We are often asked the question what are the advantages of using calibrated slate and we feel that the top 5 are :- 

• Easier to install as they are all the same thickness 
• Cheaper to have layed as there is no inconsistacy in thickness 
• Quality of stone has been tested by going through calibrating machine 
• Generally better slate is used 
• less skill is required and costs reduced with labour 

There are many other reasons why mainly same thickness slate is required such as use as coping stones as most walls need to have a level looking finish on top and by using the graded standard thickness of slate these will allow that. 
Fire place hearths are another must when it comes to having a standard thickness of slate so a wood burning stoves sits level.

Eazyclad Blue pennant stone cladding is a manufactured stone veneer that has been made to replicate the famous traditional welsh building stone. This is a picture of it being installed on an extension they chose this due to its thickness which on average is only 40mm over 6" random walling stone and can be applied by anyone with a basic knowlede of tiling. Each slip comes in individual pieces random in size that have been cast in a light weight cement based product and only weights about 35 Kgs per square metre and is attached to wall by means of a flexible cement based adhesive  jointing is carried out with a conventional sand and cement mortar mix. Suitable for uses both externally for building facades, garden walls, fish ponds and also internally for use around wood burners and creating feature walls in rooms around the house.  
Matching corner quoins are available which you can see are diffent sizes in both height and lenght on the short and long return to give the appeance that full size stone has been used.

slate hearth stones are very popular in Aberdeen and the surrounding towns and villages as we have come to find with more and more slate standard slabs being sold there, with delivery only taking on general 3 working days people are finding it easy to order them and have their log fires put in a lot quicker with out all the long wait. 

We also offer a made to measure service this does take longer but is well worth the wait as you can have many shapes to your own specific requirements including single T piece , circles, square, rectangle and many more in either 20mm or 30mm thickness.

Need a slate hearth that is made to measure then we have a range of  Brazilian slate that we can cut to your own specific sizes from a large range of slabs up to a  staggering 2.2 metre long piece by 1.2m wide and 30mm in thickness . We also offer bespoke cut to size shaped hearths such as rectangles, circles, semi circles, 1/4 circles, tear drop shaped and of course the  standard  T  shaped slate hearthstone. 
Lead times can vary for bespoke cutting but on average we will normally offer a 1 to 2 week lead but this can go up in the months of October, November, December, and January  due to high demand of wood burners being installed.

Eazyclad Grey thin brick slips are a great way to cover a new or old chimney breast  for a log burner or multi fuel stove to sit in they are very easy to apply with a cement based tile adhesive and finished off by jointing with a normal jointing mortar . When it comes to the external 90 degree corners we have also solved that by having a special corner brick that gives the appearance that a full size conventional brick has been used allowing you have the appearance of a full chimney breast .
These particular bricks look the part when they are used with a natural slate hearth stone which can also be supplied by us which can be cut to many shapes.

Slate hearths are very fasionable and what this customer has done is to use the standard size900 x 900 x 20mm slate slab as the back panel as well as for the  fire Hearth itself , this has saved a lot of time and money on building a purpose chimney but adds a lot of character to the fire itself giving it a clean modern crisp appearance. We have a large range of Natural Brazilian slate available that ranges in thickness from 10mm  up to 50mm and from the smallest size 197mm x 197mm up to a staggering 2.2 metre long  x 1200 wide in both naturally riven  and slate finishes.  

This particular slate is well  suited to sitting woodburners on as it has a very naturally smooth riven surface.

Fieldstone Black wall cladding stone is a manufactured veneer that has been produced to replicate  a dry stacked stone wall  appearance suitable for both internal and external uses and works well with rendered properties where you would like to add a bit of character. supplied in boxs that will cover .4 of a square metre which contains 6 panels each that measure 477mm long by 140mm high and are between 30-40mm in thickness. matching corners are also available and are sold by the box which will cover 83 cm in height.
