Wood burners and slate hearthsSlate is a very good product for wood burners to be sat on as a hearth and our premium Brazilian slate has a smooth natural riven surface with very little undulation on the surface allowing the legs to sit perfectly flat. We offer a cutting service for many sizes and shapes of hearths including Single T pieces which are very popular if you have a chimney breast in a room or just require a straight rectangular one to go up against the wall. Available in different thickness and sizes with different edge finishes such as bullnose or bevel or a contemporary clean sawn finish.
The first picture shows the sizes we would require if you want a bespoke one cut to size and the second picture is in a fireplace and waiting for the wood burner to be fitted.

The reason why copings stone are used is to protect the wall from water damage getting to the block or stone work beneath them.
