Sawn edge and bevelled edge finishes are generally used in creating a modern looking fire hearth whilst the half bullnose can be used to make a older cottage looking one

Half Bull Nose FinishThe half bull nose gives a softer looking edge to any fire hearth very often used on older types of fire surrounds.
